Mr Carlevale might have been the only restaurant owner with a Certificate of Public Health (Tor.U.1974) He had a restaurant (PREGO) at 150 Bloor street at the ground floor of a building where the Ont.Medical Assn now has offices. He had trendy show-biz clients; serving his personal style of Italian cuisine. The Bar was the Centre of the restaurant. Died bankrupt. Problem was lack of appreciation of the Toronto meal-markets. The LUNCH(EON) market: near main business and shopping areas. 150 Bloor had good location for the Midday market. CONFERENCE market; not good location. DINNER market. Poor parking imp in winter. No banquettes; only booths. No live entertainment. Carlevale was mainly in the kitchen not in Front welcoming patrons. For patrons older than 40.there was nowhere in the area to go after dinner.. In Toronto the wealthy go to Charity Balls where evening dress can be worn and there is a band for dancing.. Also they dine at the many Clubs with Dress Codes e.g. Albany, Badminton & Rackets , National, Rosedale Golf, Roy.Can.Military Instit., Roy.Can Yacht Club,Tor.Lawn Tennis club, University, York. Carlevale was a bachelor.
