After 42years LE TROU NORMAND closes.
Le Trou Normand French Restaurant Yorkville
Le Trou Normand 90 Yorkville Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M5R 1B9, Ph: 416-967-5956, Fax: 416-967-6868
Le Trou Normand is a French Restaurant in Yorkville, Toronto since 1973!
Enjoy French culinary delights with some great French wines.
Le Trou Normand is the the longest established restaurant in Yorkville, Toronto.
We have the same Chef since the opening in 1973.
French chef Pellaprat divided French cuisine into four basic
subdivisions: la haute cuisine , la cuisine bourgeoise, la cuisine
régionale, and la cuisine impromptue …..
Le Trou Normand is the the longest established restaurant in Yorkville, Toronto.
We have the same Chef since the opening in 1973.
Le Trou Nnormand is typical la cuisine réginonal, rich and diverse mixture of local French dishes. Such as : veal Normandy, escargot, duck l’orange, sweet bread, also like venison, magret duck and so on ..
Le Trou Normand is named after the custom of taking a shot of Calvados (Apple Brandy).
It is done between courses to aid in the digestion. An example of “la cuisine régionale”. Les plats du jour : often include delicious soup, Venison, Magret de Canard, (duck breast) and Orange Roughy, or other fish…..we are sure you’ll enjoy the food, wine, and the service at Le Trou Normand. You can come for great food, friendly service or plain old nostalgia for Old Yorkville!
Le Trou Normand over 40 years excellence in Yorkville, to put our passion on your plate.

with info from,GLOBE & MAIL:Obituary Michael CARLEVALE BA ( Queen's) CPH (Tor.) at 65y from a stroke.
Mr Carlevale might have been the only restaurant owner with a Certificate of Public Health (Tor.U.1974) He had a restaurant (PREGO) at 150 Bloor street at the ground floor of a building where the Ont.Medical Assn now has offices. He had trendy show-biz clients; serving his personal style of Italian cuisine. The Bar was the Centre of the restaurant. Died bankrupt. Problem was lack of appreciation of the Toronto meal-markets. The LUNCH(EON) market: near main business and shopping areas. 150 Bloor had good location for the Midday market. CONFERENCE market; not good location. DINNER market. Poor parking imp in winter. No banquettes; only booths. No live entertainment. Carlevale was mainly in the kitchen not in Front welcoming patrons. For patrons older than 40.there was nowhere in the area to go after dinner.. In Toronto the wealthy go to Charity Balls where evening dress can be worn and there is a band for dancing.. Also they dine at the many Clubs with Dress Codes e.g. Albany, Badminton & Rackets , National, Rosedale Golf, Roy.Can.Military Instit., Roy.Can Yacht Club,Tor.Lawn Tennis club, University, York. Carlevale was a bachelor.
